AWTE hosted an exclusive drinks reception to celebrate women recognised for their contribution to the industry over the past six decades. AWTE created the 60 for 60 honours list as part of the association’s 60th Anniversary year in 2014. Women spanning travel, tourism and hospitality were nominated by the industry, recognising their nominees’ contribution to the industry over the past 60 years.
Joining the list, this year, are five new women nominated for their strong leadership, influence and overall contribution to their sector: Debbie Marshall, Paula Lacey, Tricia Handley-Hughes, Jayne Peirce and Pippa Jacks.
The new inductees to the honorary list highlighted five young promises of the industry, who have all been given a free year-long membership and mentoring from the Association. AWTE will monitor their journey and give them support and opportunities to help them to get the very best from their membership.
Debbee Dale, chair of AWTE comments, “There are so many influential women in the travel industry and we are delighted to continue to recognise and honour them in this way. This is a great representation of the AWTE’s evolution towards a leadership hub for women, where experienced members can help to develop the rising stars of the industry”.
This accolade will be known as the ‘AWTE influential women in travel, tourism and hospitality honorary list’. Each year the industry will be asked to nominate and five more deserving women will be added to this amazing line-up of leaders and influencers of the industry.
